Food for Thought: The 2023 Taiwan Culinary Exhibition

In that case, this summer’s 2023 Taiwan Culinary Exhibition (TCE) might deserve a slot on your schedule. In addition to scores of booths representing restaurant chains, farmers’ cooperatives, and food producers, this annual event brings together food enthusiasts, chefs, and expert lecturers who put on demonstrations and try-your-hand sessions. 

The TCE will run from August 4 to 7 at the Taipei World Trade Center, right beside Taipei 101. Inside the latter you’ll find several excellent places to eat, including a branch of legendary dumpling restaurant Din Tai Fung.

Every facet of Taiwan’s diverse culinary scene is represented at the TCE. Expect to see — and smell and taste — the cuisines of the Hakka and indigenous Austronesian minorities plus exciting fare that fuses Asian foodways with Western cooking styles.
